What happens if I drive on a toll road?
New Zealand has several toll roads, all on the north island. Tolls vary dependant on the road used and the length of the journey. Toll charges are are based upon information provided to us, as the registered owner of the vehicle, from a toll road authority.
If the information provided to us by the toll road authority - time, date and vehicle - indicates that you were the renter, the credit or debit card you provided will be charged for the toll with an administration fee of $3 NZD per toll. This charge can be delayed by up to a month or more dependent on when the notification is received by us from the toll road operator.
Can I bring my own toll device? Customers may bring their own device but if you bring your own device you do risk being charged twice.
Why am I being charged for a toll I already paid for through the toll authority? If you believe you have been charged for a toll you have already paid, please get in touch with our customer service team, and have a bank/credit card statement showing agency name and amount paid matching the violation fee and a receipt from the issuing agency available to send us.
Can you send me the actual violation or toll notice? The letter we sent you includes details about the date and time, as well as the location of the incident. However, since we typically receive only electronic notifications - which reduce processing expenses and time delays - paper copies of tickets or violations generally are not available.
